Our Mission
DIVAN CULTURAL CENTER is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the social and cultural needs of Turkish and American friends living in the State of North Carolina. We aim to promote understanding of American and Turkish cultures, and to foster integrity through cultural and educational activities. We would like to see friends getting better integrated with their local communities, and contribute to the peace, prosperity and harmony in our area. We believe getting to know each other will build bridges among our communities.
Ours is a perpetually changing world, one that has been fraught with conflict that is based more often than not on misunderstanding. Today, one of the main challenges facing the global community is to assess and renew the role of different human traditions in a spirit of harmony. Dialogue is the proven way of uncovering and honoring the truly sacred in all cultures, which would lead to tolerance and peace. DCC wants to contribute to this ultimate aim by means of conferences, projects, scholarships, publications, and many other activities in conformity with scientific methods and universal democratic values.
